MARTHA OROZCO has captured the life, temperament, character and personality of her subjects for over fifty years. Moving from the purest realism to subtle surrealistic touches, she knows how to wrap her models with a warm light, and with colors that create simultaneously, bright tones and soft shadow mixtures.

Her work in oil, watercolor, or pastel, is complemented with backgrounds of landscapes and objects that talk about the tastes, preferences, and familiar surroundings of her portrayed subjects. This is how Martha gives her paintings a unique and personal imprint.

"SIGNATURE" one of the best portrait art publications in the U.S., featured her work "The Bearer of Joy" on its summer 1998 cover, and a main article on this issue.

Public and private collectors own MARTHA OROZCO's paintings. Her subjects include executives, politicians, bankers, professionals, children, and families, including her own.

One of her last and most renowned works is an extraordinary portrait of Pope John Paul II. Ordered in January 1999 by Monsignor Justo Mullor, the Papal Nuncio in Mexico, this painting depicts vividly the extraordinary personality of His Holiness. It embraces his incredible interior strength, his remarkable sanctity and shows him surrounded by the enthusiastic crowd who always cheered him wherever he went in Mexico. This work of art is hanging permanently at the Apostolic Nunciature in Mexico City.

Critics as well as masters are of the opinion that her work, elegant, but at the same time vigorous, has conquered a leading place in our contemporary artistic world.
